Elderberry syrup

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

When the elder blossoms, the whole garden smells of its flowers and Mrs. Holle comes back to our memory with all senses. This is the right time to make an elderflower syrup. The syrup is easy to make and you can use it in many ways, whether mixed with water and an orange peel or in the evening as an aperitif with some sparkling wine or Prosecco. It tastes great for any occasion!
Even the kids are happy, especially my big daughter. She loves the syrup more than anything.

And with every sip we remember Mrs. Holle! Long live the elderberry!

Here now the recipe:

Gently rinse the freshly picked elderflowers with cold water and drain in a large colander, gently and lightly shake dry if necessary.

Meanwhile, bring the sugar and water to a boil in a saucepan. Add a little lemon juice and stir occasionally. When it has boiled, let it cool a bit. In the meantime, put the elderflowers in a large pot. Cut the lemon into thin slices and place them on top.

Then pour the still hot sugar-water-lemon mixture over the elderberry (and the lemon slices). Now the whole thing must infuse for 2-3 days. Then pour the syrup through a sieve and fill it into a well-sealable bottle. In the refrigerator it keeps now about 2-3 weeks.

Have fun & enjoy!

Salad Bowl Sweet South

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Now in the summer when it’s hot outside you’re not always very hungry and you don’t need a hot meal every day. If it must go quickly I have for you the following recipe:

Wash all the ingredients once. Halve the tomatoes, cut the peppers into long strips, wash the lamb’s lettuce and shake dry, peel the carrot into thin slices and cut the cucumber into round slices. Decorate everything on a plate, leaving some space in the middle for the rice. Cook the rice in a pot. When it is ready, pour it into a small bowl (like the one used for creme brulee) and then quickly place the bowl in the center of the plate. Lift it up and the rice cake is ready. Chop the almonds into small pieces, cut the onions into fine strips. Cut dates into small pieces. Add the corn, olives almonds, onions and dates. Decorate the rice cakes with chili peppers and add some lemon juice.

Enjoy it!

Cococut rattle

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

It is very powerful to make your own items. You create something with your energy. It becomes even more intense when you let yourself be guided by the intuitions of your intuition during the production. This is a process that is not completed in a few hours, but often takes several days. One puts the object aside again and again and during these rests inspirations come, how one should proceed further. This is how a completely individual object is created.

That’s how I did it when making this rattle. It has a fantastic sound and you can make various sounds with it. It impresses with its simplicity.

Step 1: Drill a hole in one of the ends of the coconut with the wooden drill. When the hole is there, the coconut milk must first flow out. You can collect it in a glass and drink it. Coconut milk is very rich and healthy.

Step 2: Now you take the small hacksaw and saw the coconut long. This is necessary so that you end up with two halves that you can glue back together. When you have cut the coconut open, you can eat the coconut meat. It is very nutritious and tastes refreshing.

Step 3: The two coconut shells must now be sanded with the sandpaper until a smooth surface. You can use 80 and 120 sandpaper for this. When you are satisfied with the surface of the coconut, place the coconut shells on an old towel and brush the upper surface with olive oil. The olive oil must now be absorbed. Brushing must be repeated several times, but at least 3-4 times. The coconut shells should now dry for a few days. The oil should be well absorbed.

Step 4: In the meantime, take the beech branch. First, it is shortened to the length you need. Note that a piece of it about 1 cm, will disappear into the coconut. Now lightly carve the surface of the branch with a carving knife. When the branch is carved off, you can go over it with a piece of sandpaper to make it comfortable to touch. The end that is to disappear into the coconut must be carved off at an angle so that there is an indentation around it. Please also have a look at the photo. Then you coat it with walnut oil. This process must also be repeated several times. In between, the oil must be absorbed again and again before the next layer of oil can be applied.

Step 5: Now take the coconut and work on the hole you drilled at the beginning with the round file. To do this, you have to take the beech branch again and again to see if it fits in and where you have to file off more. If you can push the beech branch in and the coconut is under a little tension (but only a little), then it is just right.

Step 6: You can now fill one half of the coconut with gems, small pieces of wood, juniper berries and other small stones. I have taken a few small stones that I found at the stand. The weight of the shells should be weighed by hand. If it is too heavy, then rather take less. You can also orient yourself to the photo above.

Step 7: Now put some wood glue around the hole of the coconut and the beech branch and press the beech branch into the filled coconut shell. Then put some wood glue on the edge of the coconut shell and press them together. Remove the excess wood glue with a cake towel. To make sure the whole thing holds together, I pressed it together with a screw clamp for a few days until the glue was completely cured.

Step 8: Finally, you can decorate your rattle. I have a light brown almost white narrow leather strap wrapped around it and knotted.

Enjoy the sound of your coconut rattle!

Ceremony in memory of the ancestors

Once to the rough nights, I decorated a small ancestral corner. To do this, I selected old photos of some of my ancestors and put them in beautiful silver picture frames.  Also my deceased dachshund Felix has received a place. All these photos I placed on a dresser in the middle of the living room. The place where the whole family cavorts and passes by it every day. After the rough nights, I placed the picture frames in a display case. Every now and then I give my ancestors a gift of a glass of liqueur, a glass of water or a beautiful flower from the garden.

For Imbolc I dipped several snowdrops in wax and left them with you in the display case for some time. On birthdays or other special days (like portal days) I light a candle for them.

Have fun remembering your ancestors!

Joyful new beginning

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Sometimes there is also a new beginning outside the lunar phase, one that we experience and perceive on an emotional level. This can be the completion of a diploma, to a wedding, the completion of the construction of a house, etc.. For this occasion and the start of a joyful and happy new phase of life, I have made the following incense blend.

Enjoy it!

Ancestors and the beginning of a new chapter

To be able to be in the here and now, we have to be clear with our past and have worked through it. Each of us has experienced ups and downs in the past: in childhood, adolescence, early adulthood, but also through drastic events such as when relationships break up. This development never stops and is part of life. Often, the time we spent together with our parents has shaped us in many ways. Only when we live our own lives and everything that was and happened has been forgiven, can we close the chapter and open a new one: that of our own future.

Childhood has often left its scars and we have been shaped for life by our parents’ behavior towards us. Our parents, in turn, have gone through a similar process. There is no point in blaming or attributing our behavior to our parents’ upbringing. We are responsible for ourselves and will only go our way freely if we forgive, stop judging and blaming.

What matters is that we have been given this life by our parents. There is no point in hoping that our own parents will change. Maybe they haven’t gotten that far in the process, maybe they just don’t have the interest to question things or the need to change something in their lives.

Everyone has their own pace in their development process. You can only accept what was, what is and deal with your scars. Try to understand why there are scars and keep deep introspection. This means feeling into the often “old pain” of the past to understand one’s own weaknesses, patterns and fears. Of course, this is an unpleasant feeling, but you face it. One is courageous and looks to understand who one is and how one has become that.

When the sorrow is gone, the newfound knowledge of one’s self remains. It strengthens the inner child and leads to the path into the light. This is all part of becoming an adult, as many people call it. We finally accept ourselves as we are with all our strengths and weaknesses and we can finally start a new chapter: that of our own future. We go our own way and come to the realization that we want to create something different for this future.
Once we have managed to come to terms with these experiences, we are prepared for the rest of our lives. Similar processes are repeated throughout life, e.g. how we deal with a disappointment or life experience that we have gathered. These are sometimes less, sometimes more intense.

Nevertheless, we must not close our hearts, otherwise the fullness and the light cannot find its way to us. And the power of the ancestors will be with us. Ancestors can give wise advice in difficult life situations and provide insights into their gifts. Thus ancestors can support and strengthen us in our spiritual development.

The apple does not fall far from the tree!
We are connected with everything and with our ancestors.

Take your time in your introspection through the past!

Here you can find an inspiration for a ceremony in memory of ancestrors.

Maybug

On a sunny May day, my children discovered this maybug on a gravel path in our backyard. It was a special event because he makes a neat buzzing sound when he flies.

The power animal cockchafer comes into our lives when something patiently matured comes to light. The cockchafer itself needs years to complete the metamorphosis from grub (larva) to cockchafer. He brings and patience, perseverance and love. So you should pursue your projects persistently, patiently and with the necessary care. The grub feeds on surrounding plant roots for a long time underground. So the projects are deeply rooted with Mother Earth and bear abundant fruits after patient pursuit.

The maybug comes flying into our lives with a loud buzz, so that the projects and plans are perceived as profitable and with special attention from the outside world and bring appropriate recognition for the newly created. When the cockchafer enters our lives, joy, conviviality and lightness move into our lives. It is a true event when the cockchafer after years has completed its metamorphosis, leaves the old behind and joyfully enters a new “life form”.

The cockchafer perceives quite a lot of its surroundings with the numerous nerves on its antennae. The antennae serve as an olfactory organ, which the males use to recognize females, for example. The power animal cockchafer helps us to look at life from different angles and to better perceive the different facets of a matter.

Beautiful Dreamer Smoothie

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

This is actually my favorite smoothie because it tastes just heavenly with woodruff and melon!

In addition with this smoothie you can have a better sleep and do somthing for your healthy.

If you do not have any fresh Blackberries, you can use also frozen wild berries. As you may see on the photo, I have used frozen wild berries and pretty fresh young Brachberry leaves.

Put all the ingrediences in a mixer or in a mixing kitchen maid.

If you are using a Thermomix, take stage 9 and mix it about 2 Minutes and 30 secondes.

You will get out approximately 4 smoothies. If you do not have 4 personnes who will dring them now, you can fill the liquide also in clean old smoothie glases, close them well and drink them in the next 2-3 days latest.

Enjoy your Beautiful Dreamer Smoothie!

Holy Thursday Soup

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Easter time is a special time. The first bulbs appear, wild herbs can be found, the first plants sprout and you can enjoy the blooming and fragrant buds. Nature awakens and you can literally watch it grow. To drive away the winter and welcome the spring, I have here a recipe for a Maundy Thursday soup. Maundy Thursday soup is one of the oldest customs. The beauty of it is that you need 9 wild herbs and they should be local. I always do this on a walk through the surrounding fields and woodlands. I take a cloth bag and a pair of scissors with me and swing on the bike to collect the first edible wild herbs I come across on my little excursion.

If you are already familiar with herbs, you can give free rein to your creativity. Important is,
– that they are edible wild herbs,
– that you pick a handful of each variety and, of course, only the most beautiful leaves, flowers and stems and
– that there are 9 different kinds of wild herbs.

Wild herbs contain many more minerals and vitamins than the food we buy in the supermarket. Therefore, the Maundy Thursday soup also helps to get rid of spring fatigue and gives us more strength again. It also has a cleansing effect on the body.

The number nine is important here, because three times three is nine. It is a sacred number.

My 9 found wild herbs are as follows:

There is unfortunately no photo of the chickweed, because it was raining and stormy when I picked it.

The soup is prepared as follows:

First, peel the onion and cut it into small pieces. While you sauté the onions in the butter, peel the potatoes and cut them into smaller pieces.
Add them to the onions in the pot and let it cook for about 10 minutes, stirring every now and then. Finally, deglaze with the vegetable broth and let it simmer gently for another 5 minutes.

In the meantime, cut the bread into no cubes and fry them in a little olive oil in a pan. You can season with a little salt, pepper and thyme.

Now wash the wild herbs very well. I wash and rinse them about 3 times with water. Then I put them in a salad spinner and spin them dry. Then they are chopped into small pieces. Now turn down the stove temperature so that the two-leaf potato mixture no longer boils and add the wild herbs. The soup must now simmer for another 5 minutes. It is important that the soup does not boil, otherwise the vitamins of the wild herbs will be lost. Now add the crème fraîche and puree the soup. Then it is ready to serve.

Bon appetite!

Toad

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

On an evening walk with my husband and my Labrador, I have discovered these toads and could not resist and take a photo.
As you can see a little blurred we are just in the mating season. Toads are nocturnal animals, they spawn near bodies of water and reproduce by the male climbing on the female to mate.

The toad, unlike the frog, is assigned to the element of earth. It is also called the messenger of Mother Earth. When the toad appears, it is a sign to reconnect more with Mother Nature and the ancient knowledge, to center oneself and to go into grounding.

The Toad invites one to look deeper, beyond what is visible to the eye, to see the inner beauty of things and to gain deep wisdom and insight into one’s own values. This knowledge can only be gained if we connect with our heart and let it guide us. The toad has many warts and invites us not to be impressed by outward appearances, but to fathom the essence behind it.

Their volatility makes them lack reliability, but they enjoy the company of others very much and are true family people. She is quickly inspired by new ideas, so she also easily changes her mind or abandons her point of view to take a new position. The Toad invites to be flexible and adaptable while being open to new things.
