Cococut rattle

It is very powerful to make your own items. You create something with your energy. It becomes even more intense when you let yourself be guided by the intuitions of your intuition during the production. This is a process that is not completed in a few hours, but often takes several days. One puts the object aside again and again and during these rests inspirations come, how one should proceed further. This is how a completely individual object is created.

That’s how I did it when making this rattle. It has a fantastic sound and you can make various sounds with it. It impresses with its simplicity.

Step 1: Drill a hole in one of the ends of the coconut with the wooden drill. When the hole is there, the coconut milk must first flow out. You can collect it in a glass and drink it. Coconut milk is very rich and healthy.

Step 2: Now you take the small hacksaw and saw the coconut long. This is necessary so that you end up with two halves that you can glue back together. When you have cut the coconut open, you can eat the coconut meat. It is very nutritious and tastes refreshing.

Step 3: The two coconut shells must now be sanded with the sandpaper until a smooth surface. You can use 80 and 120 sandpaper for this. When you are satisfied with the surface of the coconut, place the coconut shells on an old towel and brush the upper surface with olive oil. The olive oil must now be absorbed. Brushing must be repeated several times, but at least 3-4 times. The coconut shells should now dry for a few days. The oil should be well absorbed.

Step 4: In the meantime, take the beech branch. First, it is shortened to the length you need. Note that a piece of it about 1 cm, will disappear into the coconut. Now lightly carve the surface of the branch with a carving knife. When the branch is carved off, you can go over it with a piece of sandpaper to make it comfortable to touch. The end that is to disappear into the coconut must be carved off at an angle so that there is an indentation around it. Please also have a look at the photo. Then you coat it with walnut oil. This process must also be repeated several times. In between, the oil must be absorbed again and again before the next layer of oil can be applied.

Step 5: Now take the coconut and work on the hole you drilled at the beginning with the round file. To do this, you have to take the beech branch again and again to see if it fits in and where you have to file off more. If you can push the beech branch in and the coconut is under a little tension (but only a little), then it is just right.

Step 6: You can now fill one half of the coconut with gems, small pieces of wood, juniper berries and other small stones. I have taken a few small stones that I found at the stand. The weight of the shells should be weighed by hand. If it is too heavy, then rather take less. You can also orient yourself to the photo above.

Step 7: Now put some wood glue around the hole of the coconut and the beech branch and press the beech branch into the filled coconut shell. Then put some wood glue on the edge of the coconut shell and press them together. Remove the excess wood glue with a cake towel. To make sure the whole thing holds together, I pressed it together with a screw clamp for a few days until the glue was completely cured.

Step 8: Finally, you can decorate your rattle. I have a light brown almost white narrow leather strap wrapped around it and knotted.

Enjoy the sound of your coconut rattle!

Ceremony in memory of the ancestors

Once to the rough nights, I decorated a small ancestral corner. To do this, I selected old photos of some of my ancestors and put them in beautiful silver picture frames.  Also my deceased dachshund Felix has received a place. All these photos I placed on a dresser in the middle of the living room. The place where the whole family cavorts and passes by it every day. After the rough nights, I placed the picture frames in a display case. Every now and then I give my ancestors a gift of a glass of liqueur, a glass of water or a beautiful flower from the garden.

For Imbolc I dipped several snowdrops in wax and left them with you in the display case for some time. On birthdays or other special days (like portal days) I light a candle for them.

Have fun remembering your ancestors!

Joyful new beginning

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Sometimes there is also a new beginning outside the lunar phase, one that we experience and perceive on an emotional level. This can be the completion of a diploma, to a wedding, the completion of the construction of a house, etc.. For this occasion and the start of a joyful and happy new phase of life, I have made the following incense blend.

Enjoy it!

Ancestors and the beginning of a new chapter

To be able to be in the here and now, we have to be clear with our past and have worked through it. Each of us has experienced ups and downs in the past: in childhood, adolescence, early adulthood, but also through drastic events such as when relationships break up. This development never stops and is part of life. Often, the time we spent together with our parents has shaped us in many ways. Only when we live our own lives and everything that was and happened has been forgiven, can we close the chapter and open a new one: that of our own future.

Childhood has often left its scars and we have been shaped for life by our parents’ behavior towards us. Our parents, in turn, have gone through a similar process. There is no point in blaming or attributing our behavior to our parents’ upbringing. We are responsible for ourselves and will only go our way freely if we forgive, stop judging and blaming.

What matters is that we have been given this life by our parents. There is no point in hoping that our own parents will change. Maybe they haven’t gotten that far in the process, maybe they just don’t have the interest to question things or the need to change something in their lives.

Everyone has their own pace in their development process. You can only accept what was, what is and deal with your scars. Try to understand why there are scars and keep deep introspection. This means feeling into the often “old pain” of the past to understand one’s own weaknesses, patterns and fears. Of course, this is an unpleasant feeling, but you face it. One is courageous and looks to understand who one is and how one has become that.

When the sorrow is gone, the newfound knowledge of one’s self remains. It strengthens the inner child and leads to the path into the light. This is all part of becoming an adult, as many people call it. We finally accept ourselves as we are with all our strengths and weaknesses and we can finally start a new chapter: that of our own future. We go our own way and come to the realization that we want to create something different for this future.
Once we have managed to come to terms with these experiences, we are prepared for the rest of our lives. Similar processes are repeated throughout life, e.g. how we deal with a disappointment or life experience that we have gathered. These are sometimes less, sometimes more intense.

Nevertheless, we must not close our hearts, otherwise the fullness and the light cannot find its way to us. And the power of the ancestors will be with us. Ancestors can give wise advice in difficult life situations and provide insights into their gifts. Thus ancestors can support and strengthen us in our spiritual development.

The apple does not fall far from the tree!
We are connected with everything and with our ancestors.

Take your time in your introspection through the past!

Here you can find an inspiration for a ceremony in memory of ancestrors.
